Spooktacular 2019: PAL Youth Center, Santa Monica

Each year the Santa Monica Police Activities League creates a wonderful community event and safe haven for local youth on Halloween night, October 31st. It is held at the PAL Youth Center where every square foot is turned into Halloween magic. There are games, a maze, a haunted pirate ship and lots of candy for everyone. This is a great alternative for families to enjoy Halloween!
Haunted Heats Halloween Surf Contest

All ages can compete in this Halloween surf contest. There’s just one catch. You have to be wearing a costume to compete! Whether you want to dress up and participate or you just want to enjoy the spectacle, this contest is a truly Southern California Halloween experience.

Knott’s Scary Farm-Haunted Thrills & Mazes

The annual Knott’s Scary Farm in Buena Park, CA, which this year celebrates its 47th year terrifying visitors, and we were there to check out a portion of the park’s nine haunted mazes, three scare zones, five shows and experiences, and more than 1,000 roaming monsters.

During the day, terrors are appropriate for all ages, so feel free to bring the kids to enjoy the rides and activities! You might want to leave them at home after dark, though.

West Hollywood Halloween Carnival

Often considered the largest Halloween street party in the world, there’s really no better place to be on October 31st than Santa Monica Boulevard in WeHo. Sure, the crowd is huge (like, a half-million people huge) and a bit belligerent, but the amazing display of costumes and general merry-making spirit deem it at least a worthy stop, if not your main destination for the evening. There will be dancing, drinking and many costume contests.

A Santa Monica staple, the Halloween pub-crawl is sure to be a great time! CalifroniaNightLife.com sends out this invitation: “Put on your coolest, scariest or sexiest costume and head out to Santa Monica for this massive Halloween Pub Crawl over two Spook-tacular nights with half-dozen bars. During select hours, participating venues will offer great drink specials to help get you in the Halloween spirit.”
