Background on Scott Chaplan, DRU’s CEO & Founder:
Scott A. Chaplan is the ManagingDirector of Del Rey Urban Capital, LLC, a real estate investment bank that manages multiple real estate investment funds (DRU Family of Funds®), sources, invests in, develops, repositions, designs (Design by Consuela®), and sells real property for its own account and for the clients it advises. DRU and its Managing Director own and manage properties throughout California and across the United States. They also provide capital for select operators with whom we are familiar and aligned. With thousands of units in its portfolio, DRU continues to grow and evolve.
Mr. Chaplan founded Greene, Fidler, & Chaplan, LLP, DRU’s General Counsel which is an AV Rated® real estate and business boutique law firm serves DRU, its funds, and affiliates, including Del Rey Urban Brokerage (With Nearly 40 Agents), DRU Management, and multiple other operators, family business offices, financial institutions, and mid-market companies primarily in California and Texas.
Mr. Chaplan is the author of A Vow of Prosperity and Landlord-Tenant for the National Business Institute, and Mergers and Acquisitions for West Publishing.
Mr. Chaplan is an adjunct professor in entrepreneurship at Pepperdine University School of Law, Palmer Center, where he also served as an advisory board member. He is also a faculty member at Kaplan University where he teaches real estate law, principles, and practice. He is a member of Young President’s Organization in both its Pacific Coast and Houston chapters, serves as a governing board member for Hayward Lumber Company, and has served on dozens of for-profit and non-profit boards locally and nationally. He held the role of general counsel for the Forest Stewardship Council.
