The Winnetka, Ill., house that was made famous in the classic 1990 movie “Home Alone” can soon be rented out for a night on Airbnb, just in time for the holidays. The home, just north of Chicago, was the backdrop for the movie that had 8-year-old Kevin McCallister setting booby traps around the home to try to deter two bandits from breaking in while he was left home alone.

The home rental does not come with Kevin’s special security, although it does have booby traps for guests to try to outsmart.

Airbnb is timing the announcement of the rental availability of the home to coincide with the promotion of the latest installment of the “Home Alone” film series, “Home Sweet Home Alone,” now streaming on Disney+. Guests will be able to watch the movie while spending the night in the residence.

Due to expected high interest, Airbnb will launch a raffle on Dec. 7 for a chance to stay in the house. The home will be available until Dec. 12 and will be priced at just $25 per night, plus taxes and fees.

During the stay, Airbnb says, guests will enjoy a cozy holiday scene with twinkling lights and a holiday tree; booby traps that recall the movie; pizza and a candlelit dinner of microwavable Kraft Macaroni & Cheese; a meet and greet with a real-life tarantula; and a LEGO Ideas “Home Alone” replica of the house to take home and build.

“We may all be older and wiser now, but we’re never too old for holiday hijinks,” says Buzz, the big brother on “Home Alone,” who is helping to market the overnight listing on Airbnb. “So this year, spend the holidays not-so-home-alone at my parents’ house.”
